Making it safer and easier to ride a bike - Dulwich Hill train station to Marrickville train station (Local Route 18)

Riding a bicycle is a fantastic way to get around, keep fit and save money. It also helps reduce car use and benefits the environment. Council is improving bicycle routes to make it safer, more convenient and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities to ride a bike.

One of the routes Council is proposing to improve is from Dulwich Hill train station to Marrickville train station – Local Route 18.

Background

With support from the NSW Government, Council is proposing to improve this route to connect people to train stations and local destinations.

In 2016, Council asked the community and other stakeholders for feedback on riding a bike on this route. The feedback received, along with technical assessments of the study areas, was used by Council’s consultants to develop a draft concept plan.

The draft concept plan were placed on public exhibition between June and August 2016.

What's happening now?

The concept plan for Local Route 18 was revised to address issues raised by the community during the public exhibition of the draft concept plans. The revised plan was considered by the Inner West Council Local Traffic Committee and its recommendation to approve the plan was endorsed by Council.


What happens next?

Detailed designs for the route will be developed and community members will have an opportunity to provide feedback on these.
